Monday Art Class!
Today we did contour drawing! It was very fun to do but it was really difficult to not lift up my pencil. The hardest type of drawing was blind contour drawing. The best part was getting to draw and see our different versions of flowers and animals.
"I really enjoyed the step by step drawing and the animals. I really liked the relaxation music even though it made us sleepy."

Here is an inside look at one of the artists that will be there!
Jonathan McAfee is an Indianapolis-based artist and a graduate of the Herron School of Art and Design. His subject matter determines the materials and the forms of the work. “I want my drawings to look like drawings and my paintings to look and feel like paintings. I want the viewer to see each mark put on the paper or the canvas. I paint these people because they are important. In some way, they have influenced me and now I must express that.” Please check out Jonathan's work at www.jonathanmcafee.com.

Spring time is almost here!
Wednesday Community Art Class!
Today we made scenes inspired by the sun that came out today! It was so nice and warm we decided we needed to celebrate the fact that spring is near! We made lilypad flowers from paper towel rolls and painted a river or pond on a sunny day, inside our shoeboxes. We got a little messy but recycled and went outside to hunt for rocks for our pond or river scene. We will continue this scene next week and learn about Monet. We will put pictures or write a poem on our box to express our excitement about the warm weather ahead. Our favorite part of class was going outside and finding rocks.
We are excited about future classes and creating!!!

Artful Journies- First Journey through Art Aerobics
Hey Readers,
Happy Valentines Day... next week of course :)
We just completed our first art aerobics class! It was fun and a good challenge. We learned that we could do art while working out and it was great! We did all sorts of exercises. After the aerobics, we felt more energetic and refreshed. Next time we might try some art to dance. We like the idea of dancing to hip hop or upbeat music.
Next week as you all know is Valentines Day and we are going to celebrate with a bang! We are going to have a party, bring in treats, learn about Jim Dine and do a Valentine craft. We hope you all enjoy your holiday as much as we will!
Thanks for reading our blog and stay tuned for more updates!
